robbieb Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Hi BetterBidding!Curious about a Hotwire result for 1-night in LA - Feb 23rd. Hoping to narrow down the hotel possibilities. My 2 options:Hollywood area - 4* / $143, amenities:-fitness-pool-restaurant-hi-speed internet-business centreBeverly Hills / West Hollywood area - 3.5* / $158, amenities exactly the same as above.Any advice? The west end of Hotwire's Hollywood area map would be OK but it extends pretty far east towards downtown, which I'm hoping to avoid...
thereuare Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 The amenities above are common for this area (as evidenced by each property having the same amenity combination) so it could always be something other than what i think, but...The 3.5* Beverly Hills property matches the Crowne Plaza while the 4* Hollywood property matches the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, so that would be my best guess for each of these. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too!Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. robbieb Posted February 7, 2011 Author Report Posted February 7, 2011 Thanks - used the HOTWIRE link and sure enough, it was the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Customer ratings don't look very impressive, but the location is perfect... I'm sure I'll live :)

Customer ratings don't look very impressive, but the location is perfect... I'm sure I'll live :)I guess I should have been more specific.. I went for the Hollwood option since the Beverly Hills 3.5* result disappeared from the list over the weekend. Price for the Hollywood location (Roosevelt) dropped a dollar to $142 too.
AaronJB Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Nice deal for this property for what appears to be a busy period. This property does get mixed reviews, and while there may be some genuine concerns, the trendy/boutique nature of the property (it is under the Thompson boutique chain) may not be everyone's cup-of-tea - so that may be an issue, to some degree.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's HOTWIRE link.Enjoy your stay.
robbieb Posted February 8, 2011 Author Report Posted February 8, 2011 Thanks - yeah, some people really don't like the modern design of hotels like the Thompsons... dark hallways, smaller rooms, minimalist fixtures, etc... I guess some peole just like their hotels to look like Holiday Inns from the 1980s..Personally I like the style (I'm used to it when going to New York City) and the Thompson here in Toronto anyway is a pretty high quality hotel, so I think it will be pretty good actually! Certainly can't beat the location...
