thereuare Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 After your rejected you're being routed to the 'retail' section of PRICELINE as they're simply cross-marketing... they know your need a hotel, your bid was rejected, so they're showing you retail offers in hopes that you'll buy one of those. You can still continue bidding by going back to the bidding side of PRICELINE and entering the zones you would have selected if you were once again offered the opportunity to re-bid. If you use the search box on the top right corner of this page to start your bids it's easy to get back to the bidding screeen... simply close the PRICELINE browser with the 'retail' rates, click the GO button up top again (as all your travel information will still be in the search box) and you'll be take right back to the bidding screen with all the information for your stay filled-in. :)My guess is that you're looking somewhere in the $165-$180 range for a 5* North Strip hotel... maybe just a few dollars less for South Strip if anything is available there (which i'm not sure if there is)What is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cltwbb Posted February 1, 2011 Author Report Posted February 1, 2011 I am trying to use Priceline to 'beat' my best non-Priceline prices. Through my work, I can get NYNY at $152/night (all in - taxes, resort fees, etc. included) and Four Seasons for $205/night (all in). If I can do a 4* that's not the Westin for less or a 5* that's not the Trump for less, that will be great.
thereuare Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 I assume you're trying to beat the Four Season rate for a 5* and the NYNY rate for a 4*? (as opposed to getting a 5* for better tahn the NYNY rate)I think you have a chance at a 5* at better than $205 all-in (although you wouldn't be saving that much), but to follow the math:$205 less taxes = $185 room rateless possible resort fee ~$20 = $165less PRICELINE booking fee ~$5 = $160 maximum bidDid you want to try for a 5* in the North Strip and South Strip zones with a maximum bid of $160? Would something like the Aria or Vdara be acceptable over the Four Seasons? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please confirm the above and we'll advise accordingly. cltwbb Posted February 1, 2011 Author Report Posted February 1, 2011 That's correct. Trying to beat the Four Seasons with a 5* or NYNY with a 4* (As long as not the Westin or Trump). Based on your math, looks like a 4* might have a better chance of saving me more $$. As for previous bids, highest I have gone thus far is $154 for strip north and that was rejected.
thereuare Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Based on your math, looks like a 4* might have a better chance of saving me more $$.I don't think so... since you don't want the Westin, you can't bid the entire Strip South zone.Given your $152 for a 4* hotel is 'all-in'... take out taxes, likely resort fee at a 4* hotel in the Strip North zone and PRICELINE booking fee and you're looking at roughly $115 maximum bid, which you can try, but i'm not sure will be enough.Assuming you need to go to your maximum for each, which would you prefer a 4* in the Strip North zone for $115 OR a 5* in the Strip North or Strip South zone for $160?Let us know which you'd like to try for first and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
