Hi all,

I've been going through Hotwire during the last two days and I've found two 4.5* hotels for the following weekend in NYC:

1) 4.5* MTE (fitness center, restaurant(s), business center, high speed internet access, spa) for $172/night, including taxes.

2) 4.5* Central Park (fitness center, business center, restaurant(s), spa) for $155/night, including taxes.

In the first case, could it be the New York Palace or the Waldorf Towers? I checked in Hotwire again and these are the only 4.5* hotels in MTE.

In the second case, I think that it could be Jumeiraj Essex, Surrey, Plaza Athenee or Loews Regency.

Thanks a lot. I look forward to hearing your advice.

I'm not currently seeing the 4.5* Central Park for these dates when searching, but I am seeing the 4.5* MTE - my guess for that listing would be the Benjamin.

You are right, I forgot to mention that I found the 4.5* Central Park in Expedia, but it's provided by Hotwire. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, this Central Park listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. Still, the price certainly seems reasonable for a 4.5*, if you don't mind being possibly anywhere in the Central Park zone indicated on the map. It could most certainly be something else, but I would think the Essex or Regency would be more likely possibilities when it comes to a 4.5* central park listing.

Given that most 4.5* rated hotels have the amenities associated with this offering, there would really be no way to determine which hotel is more likely than the others as Expedia gives no additional clues... the pricing doesn't help at all as there are some hotels which discount deeply and others not so much. Also, keep in mind that the 4.5* rating is that of Expedia, which can be different then the HOTWIRE rating.
