bobcats12 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 New to betterbidding but loving it so far...Need help to ID 3.5* MTC with these amenitites:STE, Nonsmoking, Fitness Center, Business, High Speed Internet, Kitchenette for 4/18/11-4/23/11.Wondering if all these listed amenities are for winning hotwire bids or just "available" for customers who book them. I also seem to notice that many who post in this forum seem to get better deals when booking closer to their travel dates. Do you agree?Would rather use priceline (have used them for car rental in the past) but I have a family of four and must have 2 beds. What do you recommend?
AaronJB Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)There is no way to know about whether rates will drop closer to dates; in some cases, they do. However, in a number of cases - especially if there is something going on during the dates and/or traffic comes in higher than expected on a busy season - rates can either stay the same or ramp higher. If a listing shows a certain amenity, then it should be for all HOTWIRE customers. If it isn't for some reason, then do contact HOTWIRE.HOTWIRE guarantees bedding for the entire party - that is commonly 2 beds, but can be 1 + sofabed. PRICELINE only guarantees 1 bed/double occupancy, and using PRICELINE for a party of four in NYC is high risk, as the city's small rooms means fewer-than-average rooms w/2 beds and those rooms often command a premium. Are you seeing this listing when searching for 2 adults and 2 children? I'm not seeing it when I search for 2/2.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
bobcats12 Posted February 1, 2011 Author Report Posted February 1, 2011 I checked the alerts I signed up for from Hotwire and you're right, I did forget to add 2 children. I didn't see it when I edited my search to include them. However, if this hotel has suites available from HOTWIRE, would it matter? I would think a suite would be room enough for 4. Not trying to be deceptive; it was an honest mistake (initially).
AaronJB Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Unfortunately, there is no way to know for sure on a specific property level, especially in NYC. This property (if this is the Manhattan Club Suites) notes that the basic rooms "sleep 1 child" when searching on Expedia and do not come up as available when searching for 2/2. Upgraded/more expensive suites are available when searching for 2/2. That may also be why this property does not come up when searching for 2/2 on HOTWIRE.If you did purchase the listing, then it becomes taking the risk and trying to work things out at check-in in terms of room, especially if there is a max occupancy on the basic suites at this property. They may be quite willing to work with you, but there's no way to know. Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 ... if this hotel has suites available from HOTWIRE, would it matter? It may not be a 'full' suite as you're imagining with two completely separate rooms... it could be a 3/4 wall which separates a sleeping area (essentially just a bed) from a 'living' area, and the couch in the living area may not be a pullout. Not sure the odds of the above layout/scenario, but certainly possible... especially in NYC where space is at a premium. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
