My family is looking for a pre-cruise stay in San Juan (Mar.4-6), and haven't been successful yet with Priceline. We're hoping for a stay at either the Caribe Hilton or Conrad Condado...as we stayed at Caribe last year. Would welcome any suggestions / tips...and thank-you.

You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select.If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.My family is looking for a pre-cruise stay in San Juan (Mar.4-6)How many is in your party? Canuck38 Posted January 29, 2011 Author Report Posted January 29, 2011 Thanks for the quick response...really appreciate it. We're good with any "resort" stay...just looking for the best price. We were successful last year with Priceline (I think $95 at Caribe), but not much luck this year so far. We have 4 in the family...2 adults, 2 young children. Last year we were given a room with 2 beds...so worked out. Will keep trying...thanks again.

Canuck38 Posted January 30, 2011 Author Report Posted January 30, 2011 An update...we were successful in a recent bid (via the betterbidding PRICELINE link) for a stay at the Gran Melia Golf Resort ($100 per night). Not the hotels we were specifically hoping for, but given we simply want a nice pool area for the kids...happy / excited all the same. May even sneak out for a round of golf!

We used Priceline with areas of San Juan, Pance, Rio Grande...and started at $90, and up to $100 where we were successful. Being honest, we were hoping for the Caribe Hilton given we stayed there last year...but it's 2 night (Mar.4-6) and getting a good deal on price with the major factor. If anyone has stayed at the Resort, would welcome any suggestions on places to eat. We have 2 small children, so days by the pool are in our future. Look forward to any comments.
