amanisofia Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Trying to book a 4* room in downtown philadelphia on 5/11 to 5/13.Have been trying this for a few weeks with no luck.Have gone up to $90 using rebid zonesOthers seem to have gotten the Sofitel for a pretty good price. One reservation was in may.Maybe too early but will keep trying.Any help would be appreciated. Also trying for NYC 5/13 to 5/15 but will post that in the appropriate area.
yellowdog Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Something is going on in Philadelphia. Do you know? Rates are high for your dates. What would be your max/night before tax/fee's? Is the DT zone the only one you're willing to stay in?If you're looking to close your stay now arround $90 would i suggest that you try the 3*/3.5* level. Let us know how we can help you further.Yellowdog.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
amanisofia Posted January 25, 2011 Author Report Posted January 25, 2011 I dont know if anything is going on that week.I am going for a family members graduation. There are a lot of colleges and universities in Philadelphia so I don't know if they all have their graduations the same week. I am surprised since this is not a weekend stay. Someone else got 5/6-5/8 at the Sofitel for $80.If I try the 3.5 stars I am afraid of what I may get. I do not like all the 3.5 stars. The Marriot downtown is a very nice hotel and really should be a 4 star. However I am not too crazy about the other 3.5 star hotels.I will hold out and keep trying for a 4*. I already made a reservation at a hotel but can cancel it once I snag a deal on price line.Once you try betterbidding there is no going back to paying full price. I will update when I get what I am looking for.
AaronJB Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Thank you for keeping us updated and for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links. To be able to compare options when researching, what back-up reservation did you make (in terms of hotel/price?)Graduations in cities such as Boston and Philly do tend to bump room rates higher.
amanisofia Posted January 26, 2011 Author Report Posted January 26, 2011 I have a reservation at the sofitel for 207 a night, able to cancel 3 days in advance.A 15 day advance purchase no refund room can be had for 187, but of course you cant cancel that one.Tha marriot which for some reason is a 3.5 star on priceline is $249 a night. I have stayed at this property several times and it is definetely not a 3.5 star, it is a 4 star. Whoever recently booked that for $65 got quite a deal. Will keep trying and keep using the PRICELINE link. Thanks
amanisofia Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 Today I finally got the Loews Philadelphia for 86 a night for 5/11-5/13.First bid 80 rejected for 4* downtownSecond bid 86 added cherry hill zone, accepeted at Loews PhiladelphiaI was hoping for sofitel but this seems like a nice property and is much cheaper then the listed rate of 259 for the same date. Now lets see what I can get for NYC 5/13-5/15.
