Different hotel rating between PL and HW

While checking hotels in Hong Kong I found the HIEX Causeway Bay to be a 2-hotel on the PL retail section. On HW packages this hotel can be booked as a 3,5*-hotel. I'm wondering which rating is correct since this is a huge difference. In addition I would like to learn, if on PL's name-your-own-price-section the winning bid hotel will always have the same star-level as in the retail section.

PRICELINE and HOTWIRE use diffrent grading systems so you can't compare them. Look at Expedia and Hotels.com to get an average rating.

Yes the rating is the same but it's not the same hotels on retail side and NYOP.

It may also be an instance of the property lacking a certain amenity, which occasionally happens (this does look like a very nice HI Express, though). One noteworthy example is the Affinia 50 in NYC, which is a 4* on most services, but was a 2.5* (and was recently upgraded to 3*) on PRICELINE because (it would appear, in part) that the property lacks a restaurant. I wouldn't recommend bidding for it though (similar to the situation with the Affinia 50), because you could still get any of the other properties at that level (in this case, 2*.) and ratings can change at any time.

Also note that HOTWIRE's vacation packages are 'powered by Expedia' and therefore the ratings you see in the packages are from Expedia, which can differ from the star rating HOTWIRE assigns the same property.
