willow78 Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 Hello! It's my first time in this forum but I've read a lot of good information here. I'm looking to book the Wailea Marriott May 21-28 and need a good strategy. Priceline is better than hotwire, right? Does anyone know for SURE which resort people are getting and what a good starting bid is? Normally I wouldn't care which resort I end up getting, but we're there for a wedding and would like to be at the same hotel as the other guests without paying more than we have to!Any help would be appreciated...Thanks so much.
LoneStar Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 I'm sorry -- we're good, but we're not miracle workers. If you read through the posts you'll see what's possible with priceline and hotwire. If you MUST stay at the Wailea Marriott for that week, you're going to have to book it "traditionally." And given that it's Hawaii, it's likely to cost you an arm and two legs. The cheapest direct rates I see on their website is $247 with an AAA discount. Maybe the bride has a better wedding rate, but Hawaii is not the land of great luxury resort discounts. The Wailea Marriott is a particularly difficult hotel because they don't seem to come up very often on either Priceline or Hotwire. I do not see them listed on either service for your nights. Now if you're interested in finding ANOTHER discounted hotel room in Wailea (which could be the Marriott, but is much more likely to be at another hotel), let us know. FWIW, even that does not look terribly promising for your specific dates. At a minimum, you'll probably have to switch hotels during your stay, or pay in the $200/night range.
