Good day,

I am going to visit NY for the first time in April for 5 nights, 04/13-04/18. Me and my wife will be travelling with friends and therefore we would like to book 2 rooms for the 5 nights at the same hotel.

We have been looking for an 3,5 or 4 star hotel on the preferred territories:

TS-MTW-MSG-CPS and then ESB.

Our pricerange is arround 100$-140$ per night. Should that be sufficient to secure 2 rooms for 5 nights at the same hotel. Also should I use some special method as I still have some time but prefer to get the same hotel for the entire stay.

After reading through the forum I did not manage to find a person which had secured 2 rooms for a 5 nights so I am bit worried.

If this is not possible I would be ready to go down to 3 stars but it is not preferred.

All help would be apreciated.

regards,

Spring is an expensive time in NYC... i think you would improve your chances:

1) if you include the MTE zone (at least at the 4* level... there are reasons you might not want to include this zone at the 3.5* level). Is there a reason you're not including this zone in your 4* bidding? (ie- is there a particular hotel you're hoping to avoid?)

2) if you can stretch your budget another $20... at current rates i think $160 may be the difference between success/failure

Let us know your thoughts on the above and we'll take it from there.

Thanks for the reply.

I have been bidding for 1-2 weeks for TS-MTW-MSG and CPS and my max bid for a 4 *level has been around 180$ (only for TS) but around 160$ (with taxes and fee) for the other areas. For the 3,5* level I have been bidding around 150$ for TS but around 140$ max for the other areas.

I think that our max bid will be around the 160$ for a 3.5* and 180$ for 4*.(i.e. including taxes). The price which you mention 160$ are taxes and the fees included in that price or is it 160$ plus the taxes and fees?

I think that MTE would also be acceptable as we are not trying to avoid any special hotel. We got the advise to try to get a hotel near the midtown and that the TS area would be perfect.

Do you think that a bid of max 180$ (including taxes and fees) should secure us 2 rooms for 5 nights at the same hotel at the 4* level (at TS or otherwise on zones MTW-MTE-MSG-CPS)?

Tried it once again and went for TS first and then added MTW (both at 4* level). My later offer was accepted at 155$ per night at the 4* NYC MTW Algonquin.

I saw that one had got it for 130$ per night but as I was bidding for 2 rooms at the same hotel and for 5 nights I'am very pleased. Great location and seems to be good hotel even though the rooms seems to be small.

Best regards,

Helgi

Congrats! We both got on that gravy train today :)

I am actually pleased that we got the same price (I'm staying 8 nights in March). We are both paying a little over half price it seems.

I am sure this will be a nice HQ for a fantastic NYC holiday.

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see your bid was accepted and you're pleased with the results. This is a very historic property with lots of literary history... do try to have a drink at the lobby lounge which has a relaxing feel.

Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.

Enjoy your stay.
