JobenMcFly Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Hey all I am looking to get either a 4 or 5 star hotel on the strip or at the Palms for April 29 - May 1. Either end of the strip is fine but I'd like to stay away from the Trump and Westin. My max budget is about $150/night. Also, I've been doing a little research on my own and it seems like my weekend is more expensive than the weekend before and after, is there something going on that weekend in Vegas that I should know about? Any tips or suggestions on what price to start at with the bidding would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
thereuare Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! While rates may be higher than the weekend before or after, i do think you have a chance at a 5* hotel on the Strip at $150 or less. If you want to start by giving this a try i would try as follows:At the 5* level you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip North and Strip South...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. JobenMcFly Posted January 20, 2011 Author Report Posted January 20, 2011 So after much research and lots of trial and error with both 4* and 5* hotels I ended up winning the Wynn for $144/night. Seems like a pretty good deal to me since it's listed on Priceline and the Wynn website for $324/night. Here's how the bidding went for both the 4* and 5*...4* North StripBid $95 - RejectedBid $100 - counter offered for $125... declinedBid $105 - counter offered for $130... declinedBid $108 - counter offered for $133... declined5* North StripBid $100 - RejectedBid $110 - RejectedBid $120 - RejectedBid $130 - RejectedBid $133 - Counter offered for $168... declinedBid $140 - Counter offered for $175... declinedBid $142 - Counter offered for $177... declinedBid $144 - ACCEPTED!
JobenMcFly Posted January 20, 2011 Author Report Posted January 20, 2011 I also did some tries for 4* and 5* hotels for the weekend before as well(4/22-4/24) if anyone is interested...For 5* North Strip: I ended at a bid of $117 which was counter offered at $147. So I'm guessing about $135 would have wonFor 4* North Strip: I ended at a bid of $96 which was counter offered at $121. So I'd guess about $110 might win.
thereuare Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you got a GREAT deal at this property and are happy with the results. If you need to get some soda, food, snacks, etc there is an ABC Store inside the Fashion Show mall which offers 'regular' prices... and also a Starbucks (two actually) which also don't have the otherwise Strip inflated prices.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
