Hello,

I am looking for a priceline bidding strategy for the Washington DC area. I am hoping to keep the 3 night stay (5/3 - 5/6) under $600 total (including taxes and fees). I am looking for a 3.5 or 4 star hotel in the following zones:

Convention Center - Capital Hill Area

Dupont Circle - Woodley Park

Georgetown - Foggy Bottom

White House - Downtown

I don't really have much of a preference between these 4 zones.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Best Regards,

Kevin

Just thought I would provide an update. I have been bidding using strategies I have found in this forum and have had no luck thus far. Concentrating on a 4* - 3.5* in the following zone:

Convention Center - Capital Hill Area

Dupont Circle - Woodley Park

Georgetown - Foggy Bottom

White House - Downtown

I have bid up to $200/night for a 4* and $170/night for a 3.5*. Based on the calendar of wins for this same time period last year it looks like I should be able to get a 4* in the $150 - 175 range. Also, someone on the calender wins got the Loews Madison for $100/night for the same period in May.

Just wondering what would be a reasonable amount for 4 or 3.5* star in early May. Any help or recommendations is greatly appreciated, thanks.

DC is a very 'event driven' market so it can be difficult to make year-over-year comparisons since actual dates of conferences, rallies, government functions, etc, etc can differ from one year to the next (or be a one-time event and not have taken place the previous year)

quickbook has the Latham for $229/nite as a 'book now pay later' rate so it should be cancellable (double check the terms yourself during checkout), would this work for you as a back-up?

Rates for these dates are VERY high... what is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels?

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't really looked at conventional booking channels yet. I assumed I would be able to get a good deal on priceline and never thought to look into it conventional bookings. I was hoping to keep it around $200 per night but if that isn't possible for a 4 or 3.5* then maybe I will have to start bidding on 3* hotels in the downtown area. Any idea what would be reasonable price for a 3* during this time? Thanks for the help

Well, finally got a hotel and I am very happy. Got the Westin Washington DC City Center. I believe it a 3.5* and I got it for $150/ night. However, I changed my original dates. I figured it would be cheaper if I went there over the weekend so I will now be in DC from 4/30 - 5/3 and then heading to NYC following that. Previously, I was going to be in NYC first and then DC.

Anyway, thanks again for the help!
