New to board. Thanks for helping with this! This board is a great resource!! I will book throught provided HOTWIRE link.

I am curious about 3 hotels, each with essentially a different number of adults/children. Most important to me is the hotel as I think the bed situation can be dealt with upon check-in. I am thinking the Intercontinental would be my first choice if it were one of these. FYI - 2 adults and 2, 13 year old girls. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

What amenities are you seeing with the 4.5* when searching for 2/2?

I'm seeing 4.5* MM-Streeterville fitness, business, restaurant, internet w/2 adults and with 2 adults/1 child.

The fitness, business, restaurant, internet listing could be the Conrad or Intercontinental, although I believe the IC is more likely in that case.

Personally, I like the Intercontinental - it's got a very neat history, great location and I enjoyed when staying there. However, it does get mixed reviews and if a pool is important, that hotel's pool is incredibly historic and really quite beautiful (and surprisingly well-maintained for having been built in the late '20's), but it is not for relaxation - it's really more for lap/exercise swim.

I see a lot of different options for these dates, but it would depend on what you're looking for. I actually see a fair amount of compelling regular rate deals for these dates in this same price range, too. These really do appear to be quieter dates in the city, so some regular rate hotels may be similarly priced to some of the HOTWIRE offerings.

For example, a two doubles suite at the Embassy Suites Lakefront is $92 for these dates on Expedia. With that, you would get pool, breakfast and evening reception, as well as a larger suite. That hotel is also essentially right behind the Intercontinental, so not much difference in location. Coupon code FROST11 takes $10 off = $82 for a larger room and freebies. While the ES is not a 4*, it's a nice example of the chain.

I didn't really like the Sheraton too much when I stayed there, but it does get some good reviews and is well-located across from the ES. I definitely wouldn't recommend it at full price or higher discount rates, but what appears to be the Sheraton is showing on HOTWIRE for $68. It's $76 on sale on Expedia and coupon code FROST11 brings it down to $66. Again, not my favorite hotel, but some are more positive on it and $66 is a pretty good rate.

I also see what appears to be the W Lakeshore at a reasonable rate, but the W chain is understandably not going to be everyone's cup-of-tea. I also see what appears to be the James, which would be a better boutique choice - although no pool - on HOTWIRE.

Overall, I think the Intercontinental's a very nice property, but the Embassy Suites with the bonuses and larger room is also a really good deal for $92 ($82 per night using the FROST11 coupon) for a two doubles suite. The potential James - if pool is not important - may also be worth considering. Again, lots of options, but it depends on what you're looking for.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE or Expedia links to start your purchases and searches.

My question really boils down to the difference between the 2 ratings and likely hotel choices. The first indicates a 95% satisfaction rating and the 2nd shows 90%, both with same amenities. Any ideas? Thanks!
