I had bid up to $115 at the resort level and $125 at the 4* level with no success. I was happy to bid higher for 4*since only one hotel has historically come up and that would have been a good one.

A previous bid of $70 for 3* came back with a reply along the lines of "if you are prepared to bid $22 more then we will let you bid again without changing any parameters." I started a new bid with $80 and was accepted.

I stayed here last year for the weekend. I was leary going in due to no national affiliation. I was very pleased with the room and the grounds, had a good time practicing putting on the 18 hole putting course, and enjoyed a few games of pool at the pool table. Good value for the money. Also a very friendly and helpful staff.

FYI, I know this is old but my winning bid in February, 2004 was $75 plus 15.74 tax, total 90.74. I can't remember whether we got hit for a resort fee.

Yes, I will report back after the stay and provide an update on the resort fee.

I have read somewhere that the fee is somethinkg like $6 plus tax so we're not talking huge numbers. Also, I think a complimentary newspaper is included in this and parking is free.

As promised, I'm reporting back to let you know that a resort fee of $8 including tax was payable on check-out at the Riviera Resort. There was a note in the room detailing everything this included (parking, in-room coffee, use of various facilities etc etc).
