Time Bandit Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Looking for 5* hotel in Las Vegas Jan 13-16. Would prefer Venetian or Palazzo area but willing to consider Aria/etc. Have tried Priceline in North zone $120 and no luck any suggestions for Priceline or Hotwire.
AaronJB Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What would be your desired budget per night? I don't think you're too far off from a win. HOTWIRE is showing a 5* in the North Strip area for $166 (as well as what appears to be the Trump for $127). Given the $166, I'd guess a 5* North Strip bidding win may be in the $135-145 neighborhood.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

North Strip Area doesn't include Trump correct? Only North Condo?
AaronJB Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 North Condo is Trump, correct. If you've bid up to $120, you can try $125, then $130 and see if you are accepted within your desired range in the North Strip.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

If declined how many times can I rebid? I would add other zones like airport or convention center that don't have a 5* correct?
Romelle Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 OK Thank you... If declined how many times can I rebid? I would add other zones like airport or convention center that don't have a 5* correct?Your theory is correct on the free rebids. Do make sure you double check the list JUST before you bid, as things do change from time to time. Also, if you happened to be bidding a lower level like 3*, and an area had no 4*s but did have 5*s, it doesn't work as a free rebid because Priceline can choose to "upgrade". For that reason, I think I'd stay away from Summerlin as a free rebid since it has those Resorts. I'm just not sure where "Resort" falls in the hierarchy?? If you do know, or get somebody to verify that "Resort" is lower than 5*, then by all means use it. There are plenty of others meanwhile.Romelle
Time Bandit Posted January 11, 2011 Author Report Posted January 11, 2011 OK but just for follow up, how long do you have to wait in between bids? When I tried, it only let me try once before thowing me out of the name your own price area, but can I keep going if I'm adding areas?

That constitutes a change in the eyes of Priceline, even if there actually isn't any availability at that star level in that area.RomelleYou have to bid:A (the area you want)A+b (add free area)A+b+c (add second free area)etc. Sometimes it bounces you out, although usually it lets you just check off another area. You probably could come back in and bid right now, if the bid has the area(s) you want PLUS one free rebid area you are absolutely sure you haven't used. And then you should be able to make another bid by just checking another unused area. If you get bounced out again, just come back in again. But make sure the new bid has the areas you want PLUS a completely unused free rebid one.Romelle
