TravelBE Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 3* Camarillo Courtyard by Marriott 10/28-10/30 $65/night (I Bid Too High!)This was my first PriceLine bid.My first bid was $50 for the Camarillo Courtyard by Marriott (3 stars) in Ventura County. It was rejected but PriceLine returned an option for me to submit another bid without changing my parameters -- the catch was I had to increase my bid by $15 for a total of $65 per night. Foolishly I took the bait and Courtyard by Marriott accepted my offer.Judging from what I have seen since, it looks as though $50 is the denial threshold and I would venture to guess that bids of $52 upwards are accepted for this property. Oh well, now I know for next time!Just for fun I just tried a new bid for one night 1/30/2011-1/31/2011 at $26 - the bid was rejected.Nice hotel property though in case anyone is interested.
AaronJB Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Congrats on your success and Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Nice first PRICELINE win and glad you enjoyed your stay. If you bid $50 and it says that you can potentially win by increasing by $15 (for example) to $65, then the possible price may be between $50 and $65. You can use re-bidding to try and quickly find the needed rate, but re-bidding may not be available in every situation, especially in smaller markets.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
