Eric S Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Hi, I recently discovered this site and am a big fan. I now always start my searches here. We're looking to book a hotel in Fort Lauderdale (Beach or Hollywood Beach) for 1/27 to 2/1 (5 nights). Two of the hotels we found are described below. Would you agree that 1) is the Ocean Sky and 2) is the Crowne Plaza? I was hoping that 2) could be the Westin Diplomat but I checked their site and they don't seem to have rooms available those nights so I doubt it. Thanks for your help. Any other Hotwire suggestions are welcome (e.g. should we wait it out a bit longer?).1) 3* Fort Lauderdale Beach area hotel - $113/nightBeachfront Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access 2)4* Hollywood Beach area hotel - $143/nightResort Near Beach Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby
Eric S Posted January 9, 2011 Author Report Posted January 9, 2011 We noticed on the calendar that users were able to get the Westin Diplomat for $85/night on 1/20 and 1/21. We're looking to book a 4* hotel, ideally the Westin Diplomat, for 1/27 to 2/1. We bid at $85 for Fort Lauderdale Beach and Hollywood area but no luck. We also noticed on the Wesit Diplomat website that no rooms were available for these days. Is it safe to assume that that hotel would thus not be available on Priceline? I would think so.Other than increasing our offer, do you have any recommendations for getting a 4* hotel in this area? Thanks for your help. This site is very helpful.
AaronJB Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The 3* would be a possible match for the Ocean Sky, while the 4* in Hollywood Beach may be the Westin or Crowne Plaza. If the Westin's website does not have any availability, that does make the possibility of the listing being the Westin less likely, but it does not mean there's completely no chance of the Westin. If $85 is not accepted for a particular zone/star rating, unfortunately, there's nothing else you can do aside from raise your bid or wait a week and see if any availability at these levels comes online. However, the trip is getting close and if these are busy dates, rates could continue higher in the meantime.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
