budenholzer Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Hi!I'm looking for a hotel in NYC for 8 nights (01/02/11-09/02/11). I wouldn't want to pay more than 90$ incl taxes/fees.Desirable areas:MSGMTWMTETSESBIs is realistic to get a 3-3,5* for this price? I wouldn't mind getting the New Yorker seeing this gone for 65$ previosuly but I understand that Pricelince doesn't guarantee you a certain property.Any advice is appreciated!
budenholzer Posted January 8, 2011 Author Report Posted January 8, 2011 the correct period is 01/02/11 - 09/02/11, I made a mistake in the title.
BobC Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Bid $75 for 3* MSG area - that should win you the New Yorker
AaronJB Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)8 nights back-to-back is sometimes problematic in terms of availability at a specific property for the entire stay, although that may not be as much of an issue during Feb.$90 "all-in" (taxes/fees included) is about a $70 bid, and $65-70 may be enough for a 3* in these zones, especially MTE/ESB/MSG.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Are you willing to pay more for 3.5* vs. a 3* OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay? Also, some hotels at less then 4* in the MTE can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway, would this be an acceptable outcome? Please read your messages and please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. budenholzer Posted January 11, 2011 Author Report Posted January 11, 2011 I am willing to pay more for a 3,5 as long as it fits under my budget. I haven't started bidding yet but I'd like to have a go tonight. Also there's been a change in our plans and 4 people are travelling instead of 2 - therefore we need 2 rooms. Thank you for your answer!
thereuare Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 At the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* MSG, , MTW, MTE, ESB...Bid $53, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $58, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS...Bid $53, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $58, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MSG, , MTW, MTE, TS, ESB...Bid $63, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. budenholzer Posted January 23, 2011 Author Report Posted January 23, 2011 I didn't have any luck with 3.5* so I started bidding 3* and ended up with Radisson Lexington in MTE for $65 a night (booked two rooms). I used the PRICELINE link on the board to begin my purchases. I believe this is a good deal for NY.Thank you thereuare, AaronJB et al for your help! :)
thereuare Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 Congratulations on your success! This is an excellent deal for NYC... looks like a nice score! You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
