SID24 Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Hi, Im new to this forum and new to priceline bidding .I am always traveling and was recommended this site by a co-worker . im looking to stay in San Diego for Feb. 4-6 to celebrate my bday in the gaslamp district. I would like to be near GL dist but really really want to stay at the OMNI and ive seen them starting at 65 per night. Just need advice on how to get the best rate. The more i save one the room the more i get to spend for my bday (on a tight budget) Thanks in advance.
thereuare Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! To begin, you can't bid on a specific property, you need to be able to accept a hotel anywhere within the zone you select. If you look at PRICELINE's Downtown zone (which includes the Gaslamp Quarter) note that it also includes the area up near Harbor Island... would a hotel this far away from the Gaslamp Quarter be acceptable? If not you may want to consider HOTWIRE as they have a zone designated for just the Gaslamp area... but the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

ThanksThere is no way to increase the odds of getting a particular property.HOTWIRE's showing a 4* in this zone for these dates for $99 that may be the Westin Gaslamp, Solamar or Indigo; my guess is that $65 is not going to be enough for these dates, but is probably not going to be far off. $75-85 for a 4* in this zone is a more likely price neighborhood - you can try to lowball and see if $65 or $70 are accepted, but I think it may take in that $75-85 range.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
