Hotwire Hotel: 5* Las Vegas (Strip North) Wynn

I am planning a trip for the above dates (check in Thursday, check out on Sunday). I have an offer from Monte Carlo that would allow me to get the three nights for around $250 (~$83 a night). I have tried bidding on 5* north and south strip locations for those dates up to $115, but thus far with no luck. I would be happy with the Monte Carlo for that price, but ideally I would be able to get a 5* for around $125 through PRICELINE. Any tips?

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

I think a 5* in North or South Strip - based upon the rates I'm seeing - is probably going to take at least $125-135, but I would be surprised if you had to go much (if any) over that. Not sure what's going on in Vegas for these dates, but the 4/1-3 period seems to be somewhat problematic - when searching on HOTWIRE for 3/31-4/1, there's a 5* North for $96; when searching for 3/31-4/3, the hotel in the 5* North slot is $169.

Are you interested in the Trump at all?

Thanks!

For various reasons, I am not a huge fan of the Trump. I think I may try to bid again tomorrow. 135 for all three days is a bit out of my budget, so I actually may just bid for Friday and Saturday night, see where I end up, and book a cheap room nearby for Thursday to stick to the budget.

Do you have any experience with the Monte Carlo or NYNY? I seem to be getting mixed reviews, but the rack rates are really good.

It's the Final Four of the NCAA Basketball Tournament, which historically is a very big draw for Vegas.

Just to update:

I ended up snagging a room for 3/31 at the Wynn through HOTWIRE for $99 (through your link, of course). I am going to continue to wait and see if I can come across a deal for the two weekend nights. At the very least I have one night at a 5 star!

Thanks for the follow-up!

I have not used priceline before and trying to find out at what point you will see the amenities. The fist post is for a star value, area and a price. I want to be sure I am in a Hotel with a casino. If you are accepted, is your credit card automatically chareged or do yo have 1 more step to look at amenities offered to see if you agree?

If you get a counter, will they list what amenities are at the hotel that countered?

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

PRICELINE does not show amenities at any time during bidding, and there is no way to guarantee a particular amenity (casino, pool, etc.)

When you bid on PRICELINE - for example, a 5* in the South Strip area - you could possibility get any hotel at that star rating in that area.

If your bid is accepted, your card is charged (non-refundable, not changeable, etc.) and you have to be willing to accept the hotel given.

HOTWIRE is somewhat more expensive, but you are shown some details (such as amenities.)
