Heading to NYC Feb 15th - 20th. Looking for a 4* hotel and trying to stay around $115 + taxes. Would like to stay in Central Park South, Upper West Side, Midtown West, or Times Square. Am I dreaming at this rate? I may also consider changing dates to the 16-20th as I read that might get me a better rate. Any advice is appreciated.

thanks.

Also I am traveling with my wife and her brother. How stingy are NYC hotels on having 3 instead of 2 people in the room. Not really wanting to pay more as I dont care if my brother in law has to sleep on the floor or couch! :)

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Using PRICELINE for more than double occupancy can be risky in NYC as there are a high percentage of rooms which only contain one bed and little/no room for a rollaway. As well, many hotels consider rooms with two beds an upgrade and not the 'standard' room you are due to receive with a PRICELINE or HOTWIRE booking.

It's a risk... a safer option would be to use HOTWIRE and search for triple occupancy, but rates often go up when searching for more than double occupancy in NYC.

I searched for 3 occupancy instead of 2 and the rates went up significantly. I'm thinking the freeloader can go ahead and sleep on the floor. I'm seeing a Botique Central Park area hotel on hotwire for $139 and an Empire State building area for $147 night. Not really in to botique hotels as in the past that has meant extra small rooms for me.

I've tried a couple times, using the PRICELINE link, on priceline but have had no luck up to $115 night for the Central Park South, Upper West Side, Midtown West, or Times Square areas with no luck.

any suggestions? thanks.

After trying PRICELINE and HOTWIRE to no success I tried On the Ave by referral of a friend. Got a really nice deal - half off. Spent more than I wanted but I think I got a really nice room for the rate - $200 for the Penthouse Suite. Thanks for your help. I will continue to use your links in the future.
