sterankin Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 Have been bidding up to $140 for a 4* in the following:MteMtwTsI also bid up to the same amount for a 3.5* in the following:MteMtwTsEsbWith no luck and no counter offers etc. Perhaps its just too early to be bidding?Anyway - if I could get a good 3.5 * in midtown for less money then that would be my preference, so looking for the cheapest 3.5 * in the above locations. The 15 min walk to the subway would not be a concern - first time to New York so we just want a convenient location and decent hotel.Really didn't want to bid over 150 a night...Thanks for any help...
sterankin Posted January 6, 2011 Author Report Posted January 6, 2011 I just realised - I would also accept a 4* in central park south too as it seems to be a good area.I am having trouble deciding on what to bid for - I feel that if I had to go as far as $150 then I would hope for a 4* ...Advice welcomed!

sterankin Posted January 6, 2011 Author Report Posted January 6, 2011 I have done both as you have requested!Note I tried bidding my maximum of $150 for 4* in ESB, CPS, MTE, MTW, TS and came back with nothing :) I can't decide if I should bid less for a 3.5* in the same areas..I have heard about the small rooms in the Hudson but I think that would be fine for us - as long as the price was right. I see people getting the Roosevelt for $110 for the same period last year but I know its not the same each year. Perhaps I should keep trying weekly? My other half is worried we wont get anything if we leave it too late..Thanks for the help..

I then added midtown west and upped the bid to $133.Much to my surprise I won the algonquin Marriott near time square! Very happy with this win and hotel looks perfect for our stay. I have been using the PRICELINE links too..
AaronJB Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)I think you definitely lucked out on this win - certainly a terrific deal for Spring in NYC in this property (which has a very neat history.)Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
