helpmetravel Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 I'd love help on this one. I'm travelling with 2 small kids and thinking that an outbound hotel near Toronto Pearson might be a good idea. I need parking, of course, and would love to know how extended parking (8 days) works when booking through hotwire (I'm more a HW girl than a PL). Anyone with experience booking this way? Is it worth the gamble? Thanks so much for any help you can send my way!
thereuare Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! If parking is included in the hotel's standard rate (not likely in this area) then it would usually be included in your PRICELINE / HOTWIRE purchase as well. If not, it's something that you'll need to work out with the hotel (if possible) for an additional fee after you learn the name of the hotel received.Given the 'unknown' factor you could determine how much it would cost to park for the eight days in Long Term Parking (or another nearby lot)... then subtract this amount from the best "Park N Fly" rate you're able to find... the difference is how much you could on a PRICELINE / hotwire hotel and still come out ahead vs. booking a park n fly package direct with the hotel. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the best rate you're able to find which includes parking, as well as the cost if you were to park at the airport, and we'll then see what may be possible thru priceline and hotwire. helpmetravel Posted January 6, 2011 Author Report Posted January 6, 2011 that's great! Thanks for your help. The more I think about it, the more complicated it seems to get! Now I've decided that covered parking is REALLY important to me.... When I put in my dates, and compare to the lists, it seems that I would get a better deal if I just pay the GTAA reduced garage parking (they still have their "opening" special on). Thanks so much for your help and I will continue to use the HOTWIRE/ PRICELINE links from betterbidding.com!
thereuare Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 ...it seems that I would get a better deal if I just pay the GTAA reduced garage parking (they still have their "opening" special on).... and then book a hotel on your own? Is that what you're saying? How much is parking for the length of your trip? How much would a Park N Fly package cost? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. helpmetravel Posted January 7, 2011 Author Report Posted January 7, 2011 TBH, I'm just confusing myself. ParkNFly would cost approx $100 for valet, GTAA covered parking about $150 and reduced rate garage about $90. I only called one hotel because I got frustrated with trying to figure out what best meets my needs and their stay and park package was about $100. I was thinking that if we just stay at home and leave (GULP!) at 2AM, park in the valet parking, or covered-reduced-rate garage, we're getting the advantage of a warm/ready to go car when we get home...instead of having to potentially shovel ourselves out. I dunno, any other thoughts?? I can't see that I'd save a ton of cash booking through hotwire and then paying more for the parking while we're away. Thanks so much for all your help!
