rbrierley Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Need to stay in Ft. Lauderdale (prefer beach) for 1 night before 7-night cruise (February 26, 2011) . Question: do hotels won thru PL include parking for the duration, and shuttle transfers? trying to decide if I should book through my agent at their (inflated) price; they recommend Courtyard Marriott at Ft. Lauderdale BeachThanks to all,Ron

rbrierley Posted January 4, 2011 Author Report Posted January 4, 2011 Hello,Hotel is neede for Feb 26. No parking or shuttles included. Rate from agent is $235 (US) /night.Thanks,Ron
mlrtime3 Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Ron, see my post above...Fort Lauderdale Pre-Cruise Hotelhyatt pier 66 for $77
thereuare Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Most pre-cruisers stay in the Airport or Downtown zones which are closest to the port... or the Ft Lauderdale Beach zone if there will be time to spend in the area (and the price is right). How much time will you have in the area and which zone(s) are you willing to bid on? (you can certainly do better than a $200+ nite Courtyard)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ronb Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Hello,So far have bid up to $110 for 1 night (Feb 26) 4* Ft.Lauderdale Beach (we arrive night before cruise). Started at $85 for beach, then went up $5 increments including airport, airport N, Miramar, Coral Springs, and Pompano. No luck. Just the time I'm picking? Is my only recourse to wait 24h and re-try all zones starting at $115? (want 4* only)thanks,R.
AaronJB Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 I'd wait and try again up to $115; it would appear to be a busier time in the area. Hotels through PRICELINE do not include long-term parking if you need to leave your car during the cruise (park and sail.) In terms of the period of the stay itself, if parking is charged than it is also charged for PRICELINE customers. Some airport properties may include longer-term "Park and Fly" parking, but that is generally offered through the hotel itself and is not available to PRICELINE or HOTWIRE customers (one can try and negotiate with the hotel, but there's no guarantee.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
ronb Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Don't need parking. Bit you suggest I try again UP TO $115, or start there?

(from your post above it appears you may be gettting into town late)What is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ronb Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Hi,I have bid up to $130 on 4* Ft. Lauderdale downtown, no go. Called and booked a backup hotel (Comfort Suites @ $199 through RoomStays)) in case I can't get one via PRICELINE. Agent told me many hotels are sold out for this date. Must be something going on ?R.
thereuare Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 (from your post above it appears you may be gettting into town late)Are you flying in.. what time do you arrive?HOTWIRE has a 3.5* in the Airport zone with decent reviews, 90% user recommended and priced at $121/nite... would this work for your needs? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ronb Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Arrive FLL at 3:30 pm. My travel agent confirmed that the hotels are ("unusually?") sold out for that night (Feb. 26). Is it possible there are NO rooms available in Ft. Lauderdale beach or downtown via Priceline? or is there always a pricepoint where it will accept an offer?
thereuare Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 It's possible that there is no 'opaque' inventory available for this nite... but i don't think that's the case in this situation. Rather hotels are in a high occupancy position, so whatever rooms they do offer are not discounted too deeply. As well, their retail rate is higher than usual, so even with the same level discount (which isn't likely as when hotels get more booked the percent of discount often goes down), the rate will be higher than you might expect during 'normal' time.HOTWIRE does have hotels available in these zones, so there is likely inventory available... just not as cheap as you would like. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.EDIT TO ADD: ronb, just realized you've not the OP of this thread... please start a NEW TOPIC for your own stay. Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
RTordon Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 I got the Hilton Airport on a $55 priceline bid. My cruise in mid-march so perhaps that makes a difference. I looked at the beach area as well and decided that $55 lets me spend a lot on taxis...
