Chris214 Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 I have a $141 option in the Theater District for the night of the 29th. Not sure what it will be, but based on searches of other sites that list the actual hotels and the available prices, I assume it's a national chain and a full size bed. Don't care too much about the hotel type, more concerned about the bed size. Thanks!Christian
thereuare Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is this on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE? If HOTWIRE, what are the amenities associated with this offering? As no indication is given, what makes you suspect this this is for a room with only a full sized bed? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Chris214 Posted January 4, 2011 Author Report Posted January 4, 2011 Sorry, should have given more details (rookie mistake!). This is through HOTWIRE. Amenities advertised are High Speed Internet, Business Center, Fitness Center and Restaurant. I'm thinking it's full sized based on looking at other sites (Orbitz, Expedia, Hotel-specific sites) that are listing hotels around that price, but maybe that's a mistake on my part.Does HOTWIRE / PRICELINE usually offer prices at queen/king size? And is there a timeframe I should be aware of when booking, similar to airlines (7-, 14-, and 21 day advance)?Thank you!
AaronJB Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 There is no guarantee of exact bed type via HOTWIRE or PRICELINE; once the booking is confirmed you can make a request with the hotel regarding bedding, but the hotel can say no or could charge an upgrade fee (or could say yes.) There is no set "best time" when booking; if there is a convention or other event going on rates could push higher. However, on the other end, there is generally a realistic "floor" for prices, as well. This particular amenity set has been reported with the Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza and Millennium Broadway. My guess is that it is more likely one of the latter two.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 I'm thinking it's full sized based on looking at other sites (Orbitz, Expedia, Hotel-specific sites) that are listing hotels around that price...Given that HOTWIRE's offerings are 'opaque', they are usually quite a bit less expensive than 'non-opaque' offerings from traditional online booking agencies... i wouldn't read the similar prices to indicate you would be receiving a room with a full sized bed (it would be possible, but i wouldn't draw that conclusion based upon the similar prices)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Chris214 Posted June 9, 2011 Author Report Posted June 9, 2011 For this particular search, I ended up revising and going for a two-night stay. I went through HOTWIRE (via your site's pass through link) and got Hotel Mela.
