Looking for 5 star - for 12 Jan to 15 Jan

Have been bidding for a few weeks no luck (in the 100 to 130 range not a nibble). Tried strategy posted on earlier post which started ended up with a 133 bid.

As I was bidding Priceline started to reply with the free bid.... as I was bidding higher the free bid option was going up... go figure!

At the bid of 123 ... Priceline offered a free rebid at 153..... all the way to when I bid of 133. Priceline offered a free bid of 168 - ouch...that is as much as the listed price for the Venetian.

I am considering going with the 4 star option in Strip North (where I could get TI or The Mirage)

Any advice.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Don't be concerned about the counter-offer going up as you bid higher... the 'right' price is likely somewhere between $134-$153. How high would you be willing to bid before lowering your rating to a 4*?

HOTWIRE has a 5* hotel in the Strip South zone for $109/nite (likely the Aria) and a 5* hotel in the North Strip zone for $139/nite (i'm guessing the Venetian or the Wynn)... would either of these work for your needs?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I have been hoping to get the Wynn or the Venetian, might take your advice and try the HOTWIRE option which sounds like a better deal than PRICELINE right now. I have used PRICELINE many times before and this is the first time I have such a hard time getting a good deal.... guess Vegas did not get the memo about the recession. I had no problem getting discounted tickets for two Cirque du Soleil shows.

But to answer you earlier question, I was planning on going to go up to 135 for the 5 star (but seems unlikely on priceline - and most 5 star wins have been for the Pallazzo) . Or I was going to gor around85 for the 4 star. But the 5 Star on HOTWIRE might be the way to go.

Hi just to let you know, bid 100 on 5 star - North Strip - was rejected. Added South strip and again 5 Stars, got the Aria for 110. Dates Jan 12th to 15th. Thanks for the help and advice. Great forum.
