mirkymirk Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 HelloMy wife and I require a hotel ~ Feb 18 (check out 19th) for our cruise that is near the airport and cruise port (hotel shuttle service would also be helpful). Are there any good suggestions for a 3* or higher in this area? What should I expect to pay on Priceline? Thanks.
thereuare Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Depending upon your specific needs, both the Airport and Downtown zones usually work well for pre-cruise stays... if you go to PRICELINE and look at the map and zone boundaries for this area, would both of these seem to work for your neeeds? Some also choose the Beach zone if they'll have time to enjoy the area upon arrival or pre-embarkation, although parts of this area go a little further away than the Downtown and/or Airport zone. If you're not familiar with this area you can see a map of the area along with the location of the pier at Hotels by the Pier.At the moment rates appear to be somewhat high for these dates... what is your expected budget for this stay?Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mirkymirk Posted January 2, 2011 Author Report Posted January 2, 2011 It would be great to have a hotel that is say 3* or higher for about $65 - 100 per night. We can't book a hotel just yet until we have our flights booked but I did see that the Crowne Plaza in Ft Lauderdale seems to sit around $65-85 per night. Looking at the map on Priceline, it appears the zones are in #2 and #4 (Airport & Downtown). I think the Crowne falls in zone 2, or just barely?
Romelle Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Have you looked at the very first posting in this area - the "pinned" one that stays at the top? In it is a list of hotels others bidders have reported to this board as wins. It will give you a good idea of what you might get in Fort Lauderdale. One caveat - things change - hotels get their star level changed, boundaries change, sometimes an entirely new as-yet-unreported hotel shows up, etc., etc.Romelle
thereuare Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 At the moment rates are high for your dates and i'm guessing that a 3* in either of the two zones above will run you ~$100/nite... but things can and do change, so post back once you're ready to commit to a purchase and we'll take a look at current rates at that time. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mirkymirk Posted January 5, 2011 Author Report Posted January 5, 2011 Thanks again for your help.> arrive Feb 17 (AM) at FLL, check out (for cruise!) Feb 19. Total 2 nights hotel.> arrive Feb 26 (AM) at FLL after cruise, check out Feb 27. Total 1 night hotel. We could rent a car if that's what others recommend (ie, for the 2+ days we are there before the cruise). I don't know the area at all, so any additional info anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

mirkymirk Posted January 6, 2011 Author Report Posted January 6, 2011 Are your flights now booked and confirmed? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yes, our flights are booked. We arrive on the 17th in the morning and department Feb 27. We just booked 2 nights via PRICELINE for the 17-19 as we're also planning on getting a rental car from the airport and dropping it off close to the port. On the 26 & 27 (check out), we'll need a hotel and likely would go for one close to the airport.
