signdy Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 I want to get a room for one night in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. At the 2* level, advertised rates range from $49 to $99. Is there a strategy for bidding that would reduce my chances of getting one of the cheapest properties? There are no zones in Murfreesboro, and choices are limited. But I've seen some of those $49 rooms and 'winning' one would be quite a disappointment. Thanks in advance for your help!
thereuare Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! There is not a high correlation between the hotel with the lowest price and the one you will receive on PRICELINE, but at the same time, there is no way to avoid a particular hotel in the zone... you should be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating you choose (or higher)If there are 2* properties you're hoping to avoid, why not at least test the waters for a 2.5* or 3* property? What are the date(s) of your stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. signdy Posted December 23, 2010 Author Report Posted December 23, 2010 I need a room for Sunday, Dec. 26. I have lost a $44 bid for a 2.5* and plan to try again with something less than $50. There seems to be a big average price different between 2 and 2.5 stars in this market. I guess because some of the 2*s are so cheap.
