Maverick 42 Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 No rooms in the City. Dropped in on business at the last minute and all the large and boutique 3.5*+ hotels downtown were sold-out. Lucky to find something at the Airport.Hotel is adjacent to the 101 and heavy rain that night equated to no R&R on the last leg of a road trip. :) Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $150.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $150.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $31.84 (USD) Total Room Cost: $181.84 (USD) Purchased through BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
thereuare Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Maverick 42,Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your win with the board.Sorry this wasn't a restful (and was an expensive) nite for you, but at least PRICELINE did help find a roof over your head for this nite while most hotels in the area were sold-out.Can you please add a reply to this thread with the date(s) of your stay so we can add this information to the topic title and enable your win to appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.Price seems crazy to me.As noted in the OP's post, something was happening in the area and most other hotels were sold-out... high demand + low supply = $150 Crowne Plaza :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
BEAV Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Price seems crazy to me.The problem here is that the OP didn't elaborate on his/her bid history. Did he/she take a stab in the dark at $150 (and possibly overbid) or work their way up to $150, getting rejected along the way (ie: possibly no overbid). ??????????????
valencia Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 He said "purchased" through PRICELINE link so maybe he didn't bid.
Maverick 42 Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 The stay was for the Wednesday, December 8th. There was an event in town with little or nothing available. I had made random bids weeks in advance with no luck. Presumed the hoteliers were waiting until after Thanksgiving to commit once they had a better feeling for the Holiday crowd around Union Square which is where the better values are IMHO.
AaronJB Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Thanks for the follow-up; sorry to hear about lack of availability/high prices. :)
