Merih Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 I am attending the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, and am looking for a hotel area that is going to give a good mix of cost effectiveness, proximity to the stadium, and opportunity to view the city.Seeing as how the stadium is in the downtown/french quarter district, I would love to stay there. My dates are either from Jan 2nd to Jan 5th or Jan 3rd to Jan 5th if cost becomes an obstacle. I saw an earlier thread with the Hilton Garden Inn downtown going for 5$0 via the bidding feature of priceline; is this a realistic price point for the date ranges that I have provided?Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I have used Better Bidding's links to access Priceline for all of my numerous bidding successes in the past, this is a fantastic site, one of my favorite on the internet.
Romelle Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 The airport Hilton Garden Inn is going for $120 for your dates on the retail side of Priceline. There wasn't an HGI-Downtown offered for your dates.Bidding results vary wildly from place to place and date to date, but 50% of retail is always a good deal. As you've done in the past, link from here via the blue Priceline to get to the bidding area. But then hit the "Hotels" up at the top to get into the retail side. A little browsing of that will give you a good idea as to the overall price level during the Sugar Bowl. Brace yourself for a little "sticker shock".Romelle
thereuare Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Can you please add the room rate per nite (and amenities if still appearing in your HOTWIRE account) to your previous Hotwire Chicago thread... as well as read your messages. What is the minimum star rating you're willing to accept for this stay? What is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable property thru conventional booking channels? (NOTE: the airport is not that convenient to downtown unless you have a car, at which point parking costs will likely become an issue/factor as well)The game is on Jan 5th, correct? Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option... perhaps staying 'local' for the first two nites of your stay, then staying out of the city for the last nite of your stay? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your bidding/purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
