Priceline Hotel: Help with Resort Kauai (Kapaa-Lihue) Marriott

Hi there,

Wondering if anyone has any advice: I would like to stay at the Resort Kauai Marriott for one night of our stay (Jan 27) but it doesn't show up as the offerings in the non-bid area of Priceline when you put the location in. I did find it in the system if I put its name in the search engine.

Seems that lots of people on this board have gotten good deals at this property, so I'm confused about its absence.

Does this mean it's not on offer for bidding?

I've already bid resort for the area at 100, 110, 115 and 120 (through the link on this site) with no dice. I still have some time, so I figured I could start low.

Anyone know what's up?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

You can't use the 'retail' version of PRICELINE to determine what you will get when bidding thru the opaque side of their site... the two arms of their service us a different universe of hotels.

Also, while the Marriott is the only reported Resort level hotel in this zone, you can't bid on a specific hotel and there could be others... are you willing to accept any hotel at the resort level for this stay?

What is your maximum bid for this stay?

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for your purchases.

Thanks for your response.

I know I can't pick my exact hotel (I've used Priceline before) and I am ok with getting other resorts in the area, although I prefer the Marriott. I just was concerned that the Marriott wasn't available anymore because I wasn't seeing it on the retail site; thanks for cluing me in on the lack of relation.

I really don't want to go over 130-140 and, like everyone, am looking for a really good deal (100-120). We are renting a townhouse condo for the rest of our stay but it's not available the first night, so I thought it might fun to dip our toes into the resort world.

Do you think I am bidding too early?

Thanks in advance for your help. I, of course, will use the links in this site.

HOTWIRE has what i believe to be the Kauai Beach Resort for $125/nite which you may want to consider which gets pretty good reviews.

Nobody can say if rates will come down in the coming weeks, but if the above is not of interest, i would begin to bid towards your maximum bid... even if you go up to your stated max of $140/nite this would still be a pretty good deal for a Resort rated property, imo.
