ATLguy Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 I'm getting ready to start the bidding process for a stay in Tampa late December (flexible dates from 24th on)I'm looking to get a 3.5 to 4* hotel for a couple of nights convenient to Busch Gardens. I don't mind driving 5-10 miles. I am flexible as far as that is concerned. The closer the better but prefer a nicer/safer part of town to something that is close and not so nice. I heard close to BG wasn't so good.Anyway, before I bid, any suggestions on areas to bid on would be great.I'm seeing some nice bids on here in the mid $40s for downtown, west, etc. for 3.5*+
thereuare Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 The Busch Gardens zone only goes as high as 3*... if you want a 3.5* or higher rated hotel you'll need to expand out beyond that. If you go to PRICELINE and look at the map of this region, most of the other zones are about a 5 mile radius away.Is the purpose of this stay to go to Busch Gardens? Any other plans for this trip? How long of a trip do you intend this to be?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ATLguy Posted December 19, 2010 Author Report Posted December 19, 2010 Main purpose is to visit Busch Gardens but will also be visiting friends in Brandon but mainly visiting BG. I don't mind driving 5-10 miles in either direction as long as it doesn't take 1 hour to drive 10 miles. The main thing I'm looking for is a decent hotel in a decent area that isn't too far away from BG. I'm a bit picky on hotels so that's why I was planning on doing 3.5-5* although I don't mind a Hampton Inn on the lower end.I'll be arriving night of the 23rd and leaving morning of the 26th to Orlando.
thereuare Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 If most of your stay will focus around Busch Gardens i would likely stay in that zone, but admittedly i'm not that familiar with this area nor know how long of a drive to the park you're likely to hit with traffic if you stay in a neighboring zone.If you're a bit pick with your hotels, why not look towards HOTWIRE were you can take an educated guess as to what you might receive before your purchase? Any thoughts on what i suspect is the Holiday Inn Express and Suites for $55/nite?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
