We are interested in booking a room, preferably 4 star, but would consider 3 1/2, in the July 3-8 timeframe, for either five or six nights. We would like to be in Times Square or Midtown Central. Right now the best deal is for $194 for Midtown Central. Historically, is it likely that prices will drop any during this time, or should we go ahead and secure something? Thanks!

There's no way to know for sure if rates will fall between now and the dates of travel; if there are conventions or other events taking place, rates could move higher. The 4th of July date and a day or two before is generally quite popular with people coming to see the festivities.

If you don't mind booking a non-refundable rate this far in advance, the $194 rate is a good deal, considering the kind of rates that I'm seeing *at this point in time*

If you are willing to consider other areas of the city, I do like the deal that Morgans Hotel is having for these dates - that is $201 per night on Travelocity, but with that you also get breakfast. The 4* Morgans is over towards the Empire State Building.

The other property that is of interest is the Distrikt, which is $183, and has gotten excellent reviews since its opening. That would be much closer to Times Square. The Distrikt is $183 on Expedia.

Those would be two regular rate ideas, although I would highly recommend checking cancellation policy before booking - either of those (if refundable) could be ideas as a "back-up" to hold for the time being, while you wait to see if prices will come down closer to your stay. You could then check-back in this thread every couple of months and we could look into if there are any new possibilities that have appeared in the meantime.

The 4* MTC currently showing on HOTWIRE could be a possible match for Sofitel, Helmsley Park Lane, Royalton, Warwick, the Sheraton, Flatotel or Park Central, as all of these hotels have been reported with this amenity set.

Thank you for using the site's Travelocity, Expedia, HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
