cocobryce Posted December 18, 2010 Author Report Posted December 18, 2010 Of course. Sorry. I've posted my bid. I'll be sure to add others in the future.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Romelle Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 I think your best bet would be to bid again - twice - once for the one night/one room before, and once for the one night/one room after. You might get lucky and get the same hotel. Or consider it part of the adventure and get to see a different hotel and different area of Paris. It might improve the odds of getting the same hotel to bid the exact same $100 right away. Alternatively, you could play with the range between your failed $90 and your successful $100. If you were successful at the lower end but got a different hotel, the little savings might make you feel better?Other than using a little of your time, it certainly wouldn't hurt to talk to Priceline first though. From the Priceline "help" area:"Phone UsIf you have an accepted request you can contact Priceline Customer Service at 1-800-774-2354. If calling from outside the U.S. or Canada, click here. If you call please have your Priceline Request Number and the phone number you entered while making your request available."I'd guess almost everybody here has a messed up bid or two in their past. I know I do. Very nice win, and thanks for posting.Romelle
cocobryce Posted December 18, 2010 Author Report Posted December 18, 2010 Thanks very much Romelle.I think i'll call priceline and see what they say first. I'll post the details here after.I had also thought about calling the hotel. Seeing if they could help me out.. Thought I could propose, extending the 2 rooms both the night before through priceline at the same rate - and one their end see if they can move the one room to and on to the end. Not sure if it's possible though(?)...
cocobryce Posted December 18, 2010 Author Report Posted December 18, 2010 Do you know if there is a way to actually speak with someone?THANKS
thereuare Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Thanks for posting your wins. You can call the PRICELINE number on your winning bid confirmation page (yes, you'll need to go thru vocie mail prompts and such), but i'm very doubtful they will be able to help you out at all with your situation. Their systems are set-up to only extend the reservation for the same number of rooms and only in one direction (ie- not one nite before and one nite after). Their customer service reps don't have the ability to customize extending your stay in the manner which you're seeking.Extending both rooms for one nite and then trying to get the hotel to change one of the extensions to a different nite is a risky proposition. From your posted win it appears you have reserved for 1/3-1/5 and therefore need one room for 1/2 and one room for 1/6... if you extend to 1/6 at the same price what if the hotel has higher demand (and therefore higher rates) for the nite of 1/2... they likely will not want to switch your reservation. As hotel room rates are demand driven, switching a room from one nite to another is not always an apples-to-apples change.I would first look to see how much the hotel is for the each of the additional nite(s) you need... if the price is worthwhile for you to not have to change hotels i would just book it direct; otherwise i would resolve that each couple will need to change hotels rooms during the day (one couple after the first nite, one couple for the last nite) and bid those rooms individually. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
