KatiesMom Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 Over the past couple months I've noticed that Hotwire has drastically changed their amenities listings on NYC hotels... and I'm not talking about dropping a "tennis nearby" thing here or there for a week or two... They are making the amenities so opaque as to be no use to the buyer. And that's not fair. One of the draws of hotwire is that they give the hotel's amenities. Otherwise...why not just bid on priceline, which is usually cheaper?Case in point, today I was looking up 6/7 - 6/12 and there is a 3.5* listed for Midtown South with NO amenities. Last week I saw a 4* MTC listing with "restaurant" as the only amenity listed.Who is going to buy these? :) Rant end.
thereuare Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 I don't think this is anything new... i have seen this ever since i started following HOTWIRE. However, it is very possible that a 4* NYC hotel doesn't have any amenities other than a Restaurant. My guess is that properties that don't show any amenities probably claim that "the opaque services don't work" and don't really understand the opaque business model.I agree that such hotels would only be purchased in extreme desperation situations or by some that just don't know better... fortunately there are other providers to choose from until these properties 'catch on'. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
