Hi all,

I have been bidding (and using the right link :) for a Hotel in New York City from March 21st until 29th 2011.

I have been up to 125$ for a 4* and 115 for a 3,5* and till now no success.

I also tried 125$ 4* for just the weekdays monday/friday also with no success.

Preferably in one of the following area's:

Mid-town East

Mid-town West

Central Park South

And as 2nd:

Upper-west Side

Times Square

Hell's kitchen

I am also willing to split the weekend, so 5 days and 3 days over the weekend in a different hotel (and also different area) Soho, FD i.e

Please advise, should I wait longer?

Any interest in the ESB zone? HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel for $137/nite with Fitness, Restaurant, Business, Internet and a 4.0/5.0 Tripadvisor rating... this matches previous reports for the St Giles The Court and that would be my best guess for this one.

Alternately HOTWIRE has a 3.5* hotel in the MTE zone with the same amenities as above for $125/nite and a 3.5/5.0 Tripadvisor rating... my best guess(es) in order of likelihood are the Roosevelt, Doubletree Metropolitan, and Hilton Manhattan East.

Each are only a few dollars more than you have already bid and wouldn't require you to change hotels mid-stay.

Are any of these of interest?

Thanks for the reply. The St Giles The Court Looks good. The other two are so so.

But before going with 137$ a night I think I will try this amount again using PRICELINE 4*

How about waiting longer? probably not a good idea with NYC?

If you let us know which zones you're willing to accept we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

See the related 'bid early or close to check-in' thread in our PRICELINE FAQ. While not a terribly busy time in NYC, things do usually begin to pick up a a few weeks after this, and there is no telling if the spring 'season' will kick in a little early or later than usual. I think ~$135 is a pretty good price for a 4* hotel in NYC so i would probably be more inclined to lock-in the above considering this is for an eight nite stay.

Ok, tried another PRICELINE bid, (used your link) because HOTWIRE was now on 152$ for the 4*

I eventually bid 140$ a night for 8 night stay. I got the Warwick New York 4* I checked the Warwick website, saved me a 1000$ with the hotel.

I'm not totally happy with my win, but I guess it is ok, Location's good anyway.

Thank you for you help

Do you guys think I can try the 20$ trick at this hotel?

Congrats on your success. :)

Sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the result, but a very nice deal for this well-located and historic NYC property. You could call and see if upgrades are available, but given that this is a PRICELINE reservation, the hotel could definitely say no. If not, you can try again at check-in.

Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE link.

Enjoy your stay.
