Nessiah Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 Travel dates: 12/19 - 12/24 (5 nights for 1 room)I'd like to stay in Times Square Theater District, however I think that will be more expensive than the other options. My other primary choices would be Midtown West and Central Park South. If its significant difference in price, I'm also open to Midtown East or possibly even Empire State District though not a fan of the area of ESD. I don't really have a budget because I need a hotel, I'm kinda looking for the best bang for buck but not to exceed $150/night TOTAL (including taxes and fees).Reserving a hotel got sprung on me because our plans to stay with friends fell through. So in short here are my questions: What is an estimated price difference from TSD and MTW, CPS? If I open my options up for 3.5* or 3*, how much of an approximate difference would that make? What do people have against the millenium? The best prices I've seen so far in any of the above mentioned areas without bidding is $127 + tax and fees in MTW for 3.5 stars, and for 147 + tax and fees for 4 stars in ESD.

What is an estimated price difference from TSD and MTW, CPS?At the 4* level anything accepted in these zones will likely be near the higher end of your budget.2. If I open my options up for 3.5* or 3*, how much of an approximate difference would that make?Hard to say with all the zones you're considering, but if you're considering most midtown areas, i'd guess the difference in price between a 4* and a 3.5* could be as much as $25-$30/nite... a 3.5* to a 3* maybe another $10-$20 savings.3. What do people have against the millenium?Good hotel with an outlying location... can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway.HOTWIRE has a 3.5* hotel in the MSG-Chelsea zone for $98/nite with:Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, BusinessBest guess is that this is the Wyndham Garden Midtown Convention Center (W. 36th St) (aka- Wyndham Times Square South) which gets excellent reviews. This may be one of the best values for your stay, although this property is currently only rated 3* by PRICELINE. You may be able to get a 3* on PRICELINE for a little less but it may not be this property and/or as highly rated by previous guests... i would sort of use this as a baseline and then decide if you're willing to pay more, and if so, how much more would a 4* be worth to you vs. this property?
