ucfjoe Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 OK, I realize the dates I am trying to get are going to make this tough. 12/29/10-1/2/10-These dates are not flexible.I just tried bidding these dates in the areas listed above for UP TO $145 to no avail which is completely ridiculous. While I would prefer not to move around, does the board think I should bid dates separately? Say 12/29-12/31 + 12/31-1/1+1/1-1/2 to get good savings? What are the reasonable rates I should bid up to?I really want to stay in Beverly, but have already broken down to add Hollywood and Brentwood. thanks for the Help!
Romelle Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 The way to decide if splitting your bid can make sense is to look at the individual hotel rates day by day. If they pretty much are flat, don't bother. If a day or so is much higher than the others, it can make sense to split. Lots of ways to look at the individual rates. You can pull up the hotel web sites, or look at one of the general ones like Expedia (link to it under the Support tab here). Using Hotwire and looking one day at a time is another way.You can also just check out the split while bidding, first bidding the full span, and then in the same 24-hour session try various combinations. In your case, New Year's Eve is probably the expensive night, and I'd guess New Year's Day is next, but you need to check it out first. If my guess is right, the split likely to be most effective is 2 and 2. Also, bid the less expensive days first. If you happen to score, you might be fortunate enough to be offered an extension at the same hotel. Most likely at a higher rate, but it still could be a good deal.Romelle
