Lucky to have gotten this. Apparently there is a convention in town because I reached out to a friend who's a manager at Westin Market Street and she said they're all booked due to a convention. Prices of many hotels for the latter part of the stay (after 1/10) are $300-400, so be wary for those people who think you'll get the $95/night for Le Meridien like the recent poster.

I was trying for a few days. Started at $55 for 4 star in all downtown zones (Civic, Moscone, Union Sq East & West, Fisherman's, Marina, Financial), went up to $85 and no go, no counteroffers. I then added 3.5 star and went up to $65, no go. Did the same for 4 star today, no go, but tried $65 and then $70 for 3.5 star and it was accepted.

I think this is the hotel that is on Hotwire (listed as 4 star, Expedia has it as 4 star too) for $89 for these days. $200+ on hotel site so satisfied. Read many good reviews too.
