Priceline Hotel: Resort San Juan Caribe Hilton

used you guys' PRICELINE link.

was hoping for the intercontinental, so bid the $115 threshold that seems to be what others were paying for the intercontinental around the same period. tried a week or two ago, and bid from $105 up to $140 with no success. gave it another shot today, and purchased on the first try.

not really enthused about the hilton caribe after reading the reviews...but willing to give it a shot for ~50% off current prices on hilton.com. Is it possible to get my status at hilton on a priceline stay?

Sorry to hear you didn't receive the hotel you were hoping for but glad to see you did get a very nice deal on the hotel won.

I'm not sure of the reviews you're referring to but this property generally receives pretty good reviews. As i've often stated before, San Juan is an expensive hotel market, and when guests pay more they usually expect more... but although part of the US, Puerto Rico is still very much an island and operates 'on island time' in which "right away" means "i'll get to it soon enough". This often translates to customers claiming of poor service, but it's really just a cultural difference. If you read a lot of reviews for various San Juan hotels you'll see the same general complaint of poor service (which it isn't based upon local culture)

With the above noted this property is very well maintained, has a great open air lobby and a beutiful pool. The beach is man-made but serves the purpose if you want sand between your toes.

Getting your HHonors status recognized can be hit or miss, but to help increase your chances i'd call and ask to have your number added to the reservation. You may be told that they can't/won't because you won't get stay credit, but ask them if possible to add the number because you'd like credit for any incidentals you charge to the room.
