dqdave Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Looking to stay at the Burnham on 10/20-10/23 2011. Any suggestions? Got lucky last year during the same weekend and paid $110 for the Burnham. Regular rates are $240 for 2011.
AaronJB Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)There is no way to ensure a particular property when using PRICELINE; one can make an educated guess as to which properties are showing on HOTWIRE, but only 1 hotel shows up at each star rating in each area, and the Burnham is not frequently seen as a win. While the Burnham is a really nice property, there are quite a few terrific hotels in the city - are you only interested in the Burnham?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
dqdave Posted December 8, 2010 Author Report Posted December 8, 2010 The Burnham is where our friends all stay during this weekend which makes it easier to meet up without having to jump in a cab or deal with the unpredictable October weather. They gladly pay the $200+ per night as they can afford it. I'm not as rich though. Ending up at another quality 4* hotel wouldn't be the worst thing, just not as convenient. In past years we have gotten the W Hotel, Allegro, and Swisshotel and enjoyed them all. Just not as convenient to our peeps.
AaronJB Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 HOTWIRE is showing what appears to be the other Kimpton Loop property in the 4* Loop spot for these dates (the Allegro, a 4* in the Loop zone w/boutique, fitness, business, internet, restaurant - $119.)I generally would not recommend booking this far in advance, but that's actually not a bad price for Chicago in October, which is traditionally a pretty busy month. If you don't mind booking non-refundable this far in advance, that may be something to consider.Otherwise, regular rates are pretty steep when searching at this point for these dates. You could also try bidding on PRICELINE, but you may end up anywhere in the zone - or you can wait and hope that rates fall a bit (although again, October tends to be an expensive month, if past years are any indication of next October.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Expedia links to start your purchases and searches.
