vg19 Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 I am trying to get the Marriott. I will be flying out of Buffalo on the December 25th and returning on January 2nd. I am looking for one night on Decemeber 24th and one night on January 2nd. Are these considered peak times?Anyways, have tried $54 for both nights and was rejected. Willing to go upto $60. Using the PRICELINE link of course!

vg19 Posted August 16, 2010 Author Report Posted August 16, 2010 Thanks! Will do!BTW, would the 24th be considered a peak time? Trying to set my expectations as to whether I should expect to snag this hotel on the cheaper end. Also, my family of 4 would be staying here. Is it possible for request 2 double beds in advance?
thereuare Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Trying to set my expectations as to whether I should expect to snag this hotel on the cheaper end.How much cheaper would you expect... sub-$60 is already on the low end of the expected range. The majority of wins at this property are between $60-$75, with only a handful of wins in the high $50's. If $60 or under is currently a 'good' number, i would think the risk would be that rates move higher from there then lower. Also, my family of 4 would be staying here. Is it possible for request 2 double beds in advance?Alll that is guaranteed with PRICELINE is a room which will accommodate double occupancy... after that it's at the discretion of the hotel. You can call them after your purchase and request a room with two beds, but the hotel may not be able, or willing, to accommodate your request. If this isn't a risk you're willing to accept then HOTWIRE can be a better option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy... but the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. vg19 Posted August 18, 2010 Author Report Posted August 18, 2010 Made a seperate topic for an accepted bid for my January 2nd stay at $59!I guess with it being a Sunday, lower rates a somewhat expected.I have gone upto $60 for my stay on December 24th, but no luck yet. I still have quite a bit of time obviously - it is worth it stay course with a max at $60? Or, comparing it to my Jan 2 accepted bid, should I maybe go a bit higher? Thanks again
thereuare Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 With 4+ months to go I wouldn't chase this one at this point in time... your stay is on Christmas Eve which is usually a slow nite for hotels. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated and let us know if we can be of further help along the way. vg19 Posted September 2, 2010 Author Report Posted September 2, 2010 As for an update, I've been monitoring the HOTWIRE rate for this hotel. Two days ago it was $116/night. Today it is $127/night. Does a rate increase at hotwire always reflect availability?
AaronJB Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Rates can go up suddenly if demand goes higher.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 I would consider a $10 move in HOTWIRE rates to be insignificant and more likely do to HOTWIRE fluctuating the rate from day-to-day / search-to-search vs. a major change in demand. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
