sstamm Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Hi,I have been reading and learning and am trying to secure 2 rooms for NYC for 12/19 - 12/21.Is it more difficult to get 2 rooms than one?Late last night (early this am) I saw a 4* Times Sq. /Theater dist with fitness, business, restaurant, internet for $152, which I should have jumped on. I guessed it to be Crowne Plaza. I'm a little afraid since I've never booked through Hotwire before. I think I entered 2 rooms, bur can't even remember. Of course, now that is not available.so now I see a MTC 4* with non-smoking, fitness, rest., business, and internet, 80% recommended for those dates for $159. My guesses are Flatotel, Sofitel or Warwick.Any general advice on booking 2 rooms (for 4 adults, 3 children)Thanks.I got to Hotwire through the link at the top of this page.
sstamm Posted December 5, 2010 Author Report Posted December 5, 2010 Now I'm more confused than ever. I have tried every combination of # rooms, # adults, #children possible and I keep getting different results.Maybe booking 2 rooms at a time just isn't the best idea.If my friend and I each book at the same time, and click the same price offer, any chance we will get the same hotel?
AaronJB Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)With HOTWIRE, you may see changes in availability (both in hotel options and/or pricing) when searching for differing numbers of people in the room. Some hotels will only appear when searching for 2 people in the room. Some may be more expensive when you search for more than 2 adults in the room, or more than 2 people in general. There is a limited number of discounted rooms available on HOTWIRE, so if you want some guarantee of booking the same hotel, I would recommend doing both rooms in the same transaction. With NYC, rooms are often small, so rooms that can handle four are often in short supply. As a result, you will likely see different options when searching for four vs. searching for two in the room. During the busiest parts of the year, it's not unusual to see a fraction of the options when searching for four in the room that you see when searching for two. When searching for 2 rooms/4 adults/3 children, I'm not seeing either of the above 4*'s; are you seeing them when searching?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
sstamm Posted December 6, 2010 Author Report Posted December 6, 2010 Thanks for your reply. While I have definitely learned a lot, I think Hotwire would work best for me when I am making only my own reservation, and not trying to book several rooms.Fortunately I was able to make use of another special offer and have found a place to stay. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.
