Exact dates:14th feb to 18th feb

Welcome to BetterBidding!

When visiting Vegas, especially for the first time, you ideally want to be directly on the Strip. If you look at the Westin Casuarina, it is located in PRICELINE's Strip South zone but not directly on the strip... would this be an acceptable outcome for your stay? (and this will determine how we suggest you proceed)

Let us know the above and we'll take it from there.

Actually i would like to be in the middle of the strip to avoid taking taxis.I mean hotel should be in such a place from where happening places should be in walkable distance(1-2km range).

The 'problem' that you're going to have is that PRICELINE splits the main part of the strip into North Strip and South Strip, and you can end up anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone.

If you look at the zone boundaries, are you comfortable landing a hotel anywhere within the zone boundaries of either/both of these zones? Note that the Westin is located in PRICELINE's South Strip zone and but slightly off the strip. Please go to PRICELINE and look at the zones and clarify if either/both are acceptable for this stay... we'll then be able to advise the best course of action for this stay.

Thanks a lot for the help.I have almost finalised Excalibur hotel and casino just looking for the better deal now.The price which i am getting from their own site is avg $37 per night.

While a good rate for the Excalibur, you can likely get a higher rated hotel for a price higher, but still within your $70 budget. Is your goal for this stay the lowest price for an acceptable hotel OR, as per your first post, the best hotel within your $70 budget?

Also, please note from our support page that we're affiliate of the Excalibur... please use our link should you end up purchasing this property directly from the hotel.

ritz,

You're not really being clear what you want for this stay... for example, Mandalay Bay is somewhat close to the Excalibur but it's certainly not in the 'center' of the strip and i wouldn't consider it a central location for getting about the Vegas Strip as it's quite far from many of the North Strip Vegas properties such as Mirage, Treasure Island, Wynn, Venetian, etc. A 4* hotel can likely be had within your budget, but will cost you more than the $37/nite rate you're currently able to get at the Excalibur.

As well, an with an opaque purchase you can't choose the exact location of your hotel... if you look at the PRICELINE zones for this area are you comfortable with a property anywhere within the shaded boundaries which make up the zone(s)? Which zone(s) are acceptable?

Exactly what things on the Strip do you intend to see/do and are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR do you feel the Excalibur is your best value (if not the best hotel) you can get for your money?

It comes down to whether you're looking for the best value or the best hotel you can get close to your $70/nite budget.

For example, you can get a 5* hotel for $99/nite which is a very good deal, but it's over your budget and it's nearly 3x the cost of the $37/nite Excalibur rate.

The Excalibur is a solid 3* rated hotel, and at $37/nite an excellent deal, but it comes down to if you want this great value OR if you're looking for something a bit nicer for this stay (and willing to pay a bit more for it)

I am ok with the rate i mean its not that $70 is the max i am flexible with the rate but max i can go upto $100 per night i just need a hotel which is good for stay and major places should be at walkable distance.

Using this Expedia link they have a special currently on Treasure Island where every 2nd nite is free, bringing the cost for your stay to $75/nite for this 4* property. This is at the Northern end of the Strip (which i personally like better then the Southern end) and would seem to be a good deal if you're looking for something nicer than the Excalibur.

Other options include Ballys, Harrahs and Flamingo which are all $60-$65/nite thru Expedia and are virtually dead center in the strip.

What appears to be Vdara is also available for $99/nite which has a good strip location and is a 5* rated hotel.

So again, it comes down to what you're looking for... Excalibur is cheap and acceptable (although a bit kid-like with their castle theme), Treasure Island is a very good deal for a 4* property, and the other three i mentioned are best if location is most important. Vdara is a good deal if you're looking for a 5* experience at a new property.

I booked a Tower roomin Excalibur from 20th feb to 25th feb.

TOtal cost including Resort fees: $294

Is there any chance of upgrading it to Widescreen tower room for few extra bucks.

Also can i get any better deal than this in any good hotel than Excalibur.

Las Vegas has a mono-rail, a cute little trolley, and public bus service. Worth a look for getting around if the walk seems too far and you don't want to take a taxi. For that matter, worth trying as "mini-tours".

You can try asking, or tipping at check-in, to see if you can upgrade to a widescreen room... but i'm not sure how much more those rooms usually cost vs. the one you booked.

I'm not a fan of the Vegas trolly as it stops at most of the hotels and it can take a LONG time to get where you're going since it pulls into each and every hotel (at least it did quite a few years back)... walking is the best way to get around Vegas imo, but if you don't like to walk too far, the CAT (public bus system in Vegas) is good for getting anywhere on the Strip (as well as all the way downtown) and now sells daily/multi-day passes.

Enjoy your stay.
