lewinr Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Looking for a hotel in north Toronto from Dec 4-7. So I am checking "north york - vaughn region".Came up with this odd hotel for $66, with only 1-star and a tennis icon. Other amenities are pool are restaurant. I have been checking for the last week and this appeared only today. With this criteria I thought it would be easy to identify, but it turned out not so.I searched on a few sites (including Priceline) for 1* hotels with tennis but the only matches fell outside the North York- Vaughn region as defined by hotwire. I wonder if the "1*" is a mistake.Any ideas?ThanksRon(of course any buying will go through the BetterBidding link)
thereuare Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! The Tennis icon designated Tennis nearby, not necessarily on the premises, which is why you're not likely finding any matches for this one. However, why is this property even an option? At 1* and $66/nite it's not only lower rated but also higher priced then the 2* hotel in this zone priced at $56 which also includes breakfast. As well, the 2* has a very good 95% recommended by HOTWIRE users vs. the 3.0/5.0 Tripadvisor rating of the 1* property.Unless you have to, and as per above there are other/better options for this stay, i wouldn't mess with a 1* rated hotel thru HOTWIRE.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. lewinr Posted December 2, 2010 Author Report Posted December 2, 2010 Well the region defined is rather large and so I was hoping that if I could identify the hotel then it might be located close to where I need to be. And I was worried about the location of the 2*+ hotels since I could not identify them. I you think you can identify those then it would also be appreciated. Also, what is the "tripadvisor" rating you mention? I dont remember seeing any explicit mention of a tripadvisor rating. Thanks for your help,Ron
thereuare Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 The 2* property with Complimentary Breakfast, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry matches previous reports for the Holiday Inn Express so that would be my best guess for this one. If correct, would this work for your plans? For the 1* if you click the CONTINUE button next to this offering and then look under then look between the amenity icons and the map you'll see a 3.0/5.0 Tripadvisor rating. This is not shown for all hotels and even for the same hotel it can show one search and then not the next. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. lewinr Posted December 3, 2010 Author Report Posted December 3, 2010 Well, I decided to buy the 2* with the comp breakfast and go thte Comfort Inn Downsview, which was not really what I wanted but is acceptable.used the HOTWIRE link.
thereuare Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Sorry to see you didn't receive the hotel you were expecting.Unfortunately the reviews i'm seeing for this property are not very consistent with the 95% recommended by HOTWIRE users, although a few of the reviews mention being pleasantly surprised. You'll have to at least give this hotel a chance, but if you have a problem once there which the hotel is not able to resolve i'd give HOTWIRE a call and let them know your not satisfied to see if there is anything that can be done.Hopefully this stay will go better then expected.Thank you for using the HOTWIRE link on the board to begin your purchase and sharing your results, helping us update the Hotwire Hotel List with this property.
