jbrehm Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Going to a wedding in May. Reasonable to expect to get a room in the $175 range for 4* in the mid-town area?I've tried twice so far going up to $180 unsuccessfully . . .

thereuare Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 At the moment $175 seems like it might be in the right ballpark, although it may take a little more (~$200 would seem to likely increase your chances somewhat). With nearly 6 months to go before your stay i'd book a cancelable back-up and continue to try PRICELINE and HOTWIRE... what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel for these nites? Does the wedding have a group rate for a block of rooms? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jbrehm Posted December 3, 2010 Author Report Posted December 3, 2010 Yeah, its $299 a night at The Carlton Hotel and HOTWIRE shows 4* hotels going around $250 on these dates. When do prices usually start to drop? Would my best rate be last minute? Thanks for the help.
thereuare Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Rates are a function of hotel occupancy levels (ie- supply/demand) and if demand for these dates remains strong you may not see a drop in rates at all... or they could increase even further! (which is why we suggest a fully cancelable back-up as it gives you the ability to take advantage of any rate drops between now and your stay but also protects you should rates move higher or hotels sell-out)For additional reading see the related "bid early or close to check-in" link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Given the price of your other options, what is your maximum bid for this stay at this time?
