Priceline Hotel: Vegas Help

Any consolidators that you would recommend checking (websites, etc.)? We are going for my friends bachelor party June 3rd - 5th, 2005. I want to do something nice for him, so I would like to either stay on the strip or at the Palms or Hard Rock hotel..... good hotels for the 20-30 yr old crowd. But since we are young, the price of rooms makes a big difference.

When I first saw some of the postings for Vegas, I noticed that many people were having luck during the month of April getting rooms at the Venetian for less than $150. Something in this price range would be ideal. But after reading more posts, it sounds like that same rate may not be possible during the first weekend of June. If we can find something for ~$200/night that would be acceptable.

hmmm, I just checked the Venetian website as a price guideline and for some reason the rates on the weekend of June 3 - 5th are really inflated. Both Fri and Sat night rates start at $699! Crazy! Yet the retail rates for the weekend before and the weekend after are listed on their website for much less. June 10 - 11th the retail rates are $239 for Fri and $299 for Sat.

Any idea why the rates would be so high June 3 - 5th? Can we get reasonable rates (<$200/night) through

priceline, hotwire, or any other consolidator?

And are there advantages to using sites that link to PRICELINE instead of going directly to priceline.com?

for what it's worth, a friend of mine attended a bachelor party at the Hard Rock and he felt that it was perfectly suited for a bachelor party.....as long as you are in the 20 year old to mid 30's category. The Hard Rock is not close to the strip and he ended up taking taxi's to get around. Likewise, the Palms is just off the strip, but has a great pool, and of course, the Ghost Bar, a must see!! You might want to check your budget and a map of the Strip :)

The advantages to using a site like Savingsbarn.com to link to PL and HW is that it helps support great message boards like this one; although the air is free, bandwidth is not!! The advice has enabled me to stay at better hotels at lower prices. :)

Thanks for all the info!

Both the Palms and Hardrock sound great, but the Palms is sold out for the weekend and the Hard Rock has a 4 night min for the weekend we will be in Vegas (June 3-5th; two nights). So, I figure I will start by giving priceline a try in the 5*category (i.e. to try to get the Venetian, Bellagio, or equivalent). Can anyone reccmmend a bidding strategy?

Assuming rates at the Venetian stay where they currently are at $699/nite i don't think you're going to be successful at $200... is that still your maximum bid?

The new Renaissance Hotel is availalbe for $150/nite (off the strip but apparently excellent service to the strip via monorail).

The Imperial Palace is available for $93/nite thru QUICKBOOK. It's not a 4* hotel, but the price and location are very good and may serve your needs well.

Let us know what you think of the above (if you book any of them please use the links in this thread to do so)

I need help identifying this Vegas Strip hotel available from June 3rd - 5th, 2005. I didn't see a vegas hotel matching these amenities on your hotel list.

4*: Casino, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Spa Services, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Business Center

It is listed at $261/night.

Thanks!

Looks like the hotels previously mentioned above are no longer available and rates have gone up substantially. :)

It appears that the MGM Grand has been downgraded from a 4.5* to a 4* and that is our best guess for this hotel.

If you're considering hotels in this price range i think the MIRAGE at $259/nite offers a better deal.

Let us know what you decide do to or if we can be of more help.

Thanks for all the help from everyone in this forum.

I was eventually able to find a good rate on the Monte Carlo's website for $129 for Friday night and $149 for Saturday night. I booked directly through their website since it is a nice hote (4*) and the rates were excellent.

I hope to make it back to Vegas soon and get one of those spectacular rates at the Venetian!
