Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Virginia Beach (Downtown Norfolk) Sheraton Waterside

When I bid a few days before my trip, Priceline showed downtown Norfolk as having 2 3.5* hotels, the Marriott and the Sheraton. I decided to try for $40/night, but my bid was denied and countered with an offer of $55. Not wanting to pay that much, I followed another user's suggestion and changed my location preference to include Suffolk, where I knew there were no 3.5* hotels on Priceline, and upped my offer to $45. That worked, and I "won" a stay at the Norfolk Sheraton Waterside. I was initially hoping for the Marriott, based on user reviews, but I'm happy I didn't get it. Below is my review of the Sheraton.

My Review:

I just returned from a 4-night stay at the Sheraton Waterside, and was pleasantly surprised. The location truly was waterfront (unlike that of the similarly-titled Marriott) and the interior was very nice. Perhaps it was recently renovated? The hotel staff were all very friendly, and we were even given a complimentary upgrade to a room with a water view on the 9th floor (I did have to ask if they had any available). The stay would have been perfect had it not been for the extremely thin walls/door in the room, through which we could plainly hear ALL sounds in the hallway. That said, I would recommend the hotel and will personally stay there again, but I will be sure to bring a portable fan with me to create some sort of white noise in the room (the air conditioning system was incredibly quiet, and there wasn't even an exhaust fan in the bathroom).

Location-wise, the hotel was great. The Nauticus museum and the USS Wisconsin battleship were practically next door, as was a shopping center with several (chain) restaurants. The main mall with a movie theater was only a few blocks away, and everything was walkable.
