tonymc Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Hi,Having had a look at the list of possible hotels which meet the rating and area on the list on this site, would I be correct in assuming that the likely hotels would be the Sheraton and the Hilton? For our dates, these hotels are available for $109 plus tax, which is roughly 40% of the prices I am getting off UK hotel search sites (surely it must be too good to be true!!).I requested 2A/1C, so would Hotwire price for two beds in the room, or a king-size only? I have seen the FAQs on Hotwire that says "Some of our hotel partners allow you to reserve your beds (e.g., king, queen) at the time of booking. Look for this indicated in the search results". However, I am not sure if this is available only once you have committed to your booking or before the booking process is completed. All advice welcome. Many thanks.
AaronJB Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Good morning. :)Please provide an update for your NYC threadIf you search for more than 2 in the room via HOTWIRE, then you are guaranteed bedding for the amount of people in the room. That is commonly 2 beds, but can be 1 + sofabed or other combination. Some HOTWIRE listings do offer a "bed choice" option, where you can pay more to ensure a particular bedding combination, but if that isn't showing with the listing, there is no way to select bedding. You can call the hotel after booking to request specific bedding, but it is a request and may not be able to be offered due to hotel policy or availability. In terms of the listing in question, what are the amenity icons showing and what are the date/s of travel?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
tonymc Posted November 25, 2010 Author Report Posted November 25, 2010 Hi,Thanks for the info regarding beds. The information you requested is below:Dates: 8/15/11 to 8/19/11 - not sure if better to wait until nearer the time as good price at $109.Amenities:Fitness CentrePoolRestaurantsBusiness CentreHigh Speed Internet AccessI've also had a look at past wins, and all 3.5 star properties are either the Sheraton or the Hilton.

Planning on 6 nights in New York, followed by 4 on the coast in New England, then 4 nights Boston and a final night at/near JFK.If these 3.5* hotels are the Sheraton or Hilton, these are coming in at almost
thereuare Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 The property above matches both the Sheraton and the Hilton Back Bay so either of these would be my best guess for this one.Booking for triple occupancy should land you a room with two beds (i know of once instance where the hotel claimed that a King bed accommodated 3 people) but note that the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway, etc. This same hotel appears when searching for 2adults/2children so if you want to virtually eliminate the (remote) possibility of a room with just one King bed then i would book for quad occupancy with 2 adults/2children.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases (and your searches too!).Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. tonymc Posted November 26, 2010 Author Report Posted November 26, 2010 Many thanks for taking the time to confirm this - good idea about booking for quad occupancy. The price at $109 is around par with previous wins/bookings I have looked at over the last 12 months, so fingers crossed I'll be making the booking before long. Thanks again for the help.
tonymc Posted November 29, 2010 Author Report Posted November 29, 2010 Taken the plunge and booked it at $109 - got the Sheraton so extremely :) pleased with this price especially as the best I could see on a UK site was around
