Eggman Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Heading to New Orleans for December 4th to 6th. I see that most people are getting the Sheraton around $55-65 range. Any suggestions?
thereuare Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! There are others 4* hotels in this zone besides the Sheraton and you could receive any one of them... are you willing to accept a property other than the Sheraton? Is the Downtown zone the only zone you're willing to bid on or is the French Quarter acceptable as well? What is your maximum bid for this stay?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Eggman Posted November 25, 2010 Author Report Posted November 25, 2010 There are others 4* hotels in this zone besides the Sheraton and you could receive any one of them... are you willing to accept a property other than the Sheraton?Yes, I am willing to accept any 4* hotel in the area. I just assumed the Sheraton as it was the the most "accepted" after reading some of the posts in the past few days.Is the Downtown zone the only zone you're willing to bid on or is the French Quarter acceptable as well? What is your maximum bid for this stay?I am willing to look at the FQ, but would rather be a 'little' away from the action. Like to keep the price under $70
thereuare Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Please start by reading your messages. Then, if you'd like to try for the Downtown zone only (since it appears you prefer not to stay in the French Quarter) at the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Downtown...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $63, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Eggman Posted November 27, 2010 Author Report Posted November 27, 2010 Thanks for your help! After many days of bidding at a low rate of $60-80 I was able to get the Intercontinental for $80 per night. I was a little disappointed after seeing all of the people lucky enough to get the Sheraton at a rate of $55-60 per night. However, it was still better then the rates from other travel websites.
thereuare Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Rates are date specific, so you can't always expect to replicate another user's winning bid should demand (and therefore rates) for your dates be higher than usual.Glad to see you got this stay settled, and while perhaps a little more than you originally expected to pay, this looks to be a very nice deal for these nites.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
