Hi, I have never bid on Priceline before, but think this will be the best deal for us. I am looking for a 3-4* hotel in any of the NY Midtown areas. I would like to spend between $100-$180. Is this reasonable at all for the 4*? Any bidding strategies would be great. I saw a 3* in Midtown for $105 for off the record for Easy Travel Website, any ideas what hotel this is, or if I will get stuck with a scary one at that price. This site looks so helpful, thanks in advance!

Hi! I am looking for help to figure out the best bidding strategy on priceline as I have never done it before. I am looking for any area in Midtown for the dates of 5/27-6/1. What areas of Midtown are usually cheapest? Also, I am looking for a 3*-4* and looking to spend from 120-170. Are these rates a reasonable chance? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This site looks fabulous, thanks! I am interested in the Mansfield hotel that I have heard other people have gotten on Priceline. Does anyone know what zone this is considered? Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

For the EasyClickTravel "Off the Record" hotel you can try using our EasyClickTravel Reverse Look-up tool... if not identified you can email us the details link and we will try to identify it (there are many 3* hotels in midtown thru ECT so we have no idea which one you are seeing).

A 3* or better for under $180 should be do-able but before suggesting a strategy two questions:

-have you identified the above EasyClickTravel hotel? (if it's a good one why bother paying more thru other services)

-what is more important, price or star quality (ie- if given the choice, do you prefer a 4* for $180 or a 3* for $150?)

Yes, I looked up the hotel through the reverse search and unsure of what I think. I was under the impression that it would be cheaper to go through Priceline. I would like a four star hotel, but would be willing for a three star if they seem to be decent in that area. I would prefer to spend around 150 dollars though. Would I be able to start bidding on 4 stars to see where I can get in my budget and then move over to a 3 star if I can't get in my range with a 4 star? I am open to probably any area of midtown as we will be there a few days and plan to use the subway a lot. Is there an area of Midtown that will have cheaper rates? Any strategies would be appreciated. Thanks so much for your help! :)

Let's back up a minute...

What is it that you're looking for?

You're asking about all of these other services that are available but it seems like you already have your mind made up and committed to use Priceline (which is fine, but if that's the case not sure why you keep bringing up HOTWIRE and EasyClickTravel).

I have done research on hotwire and EasyClickTravel. But I have not yet tried to bid on Priceline because I am not sure the best way to go about it. I know now about what I can get for a room on the other sites, but would like to try Priceline to see where I can get there, in hopes to get at least a three star in Midtown for about 150 dollars, less money would always be better, but not sure that is possible. How do I proceed to bid on Priceline to try my luck there. Basically I would not bid more than 160-170 dollars because I have found comparable rates elsewhere. I would like to know a bidding strategy to give me the best chance of beating the prices I have seen on hotwire, etc. Thanks for your help.
